Real Estate Commitment to Sustainability

Angel Place is committed to achieving long term sustainable outcomes by addressing Environment, Social and Governance matters

At AMP Capital, we are committed to creating long term sustainable outcomes through our real estate assets, across our supply chain and in the communities in which we operate. Through this commitment, we will ensure that:

—Our buildings are places where people love spending time.
—We encourage and support our people to do their best work with us.
—We care for the land we use while protecting and restoring natural habitats.
On the 28th of October 2019, we launched an ambitious 2030 Sustainability strategy. The strategy aims to address key sustainability challenges including climate change, waste, biodiversity, social impact, accessibility and supply chain sustainability.
Enduring value is about creating long-term benefits for all, and in doing so, shaping a better future. For our customers, we will create places that people love to be in and ensure these places are highly efficient with best-practice facilities.
We look forward to seeing what we can achieve together between now and 2030, and are also eager to hear from our customers about how together, we can provide sustainable workplace solutions.

NABERS is a national rating system that measures the environmental performance of Australian buildings, tenancies and homes. Put simply, NABERS measures the energy efficiency, water usage, waste management and indoor environment quality of a building or tenancy and its impact on the environment.

It does this by using measured and verified performance information, such as utility bills, and converting them into an easy to understand star rating scale from one to six stars. For example, a 6 star rating demonstrates market-leading performance, while a 1 star rating means the building or tenancy has considerable scope for improvement.

For over ten years, NABERS has helped property owners, managers and tenants across Australia to improve their sustainability performance, reaping financial benefits and building their reputation.

NABERS is managed nationally by the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, on behalf of Commonwealth, state and territory governments.

Angel Place currently has reached its 5.5 Star NABERS Energy Rating and has improved its Water Rating to 4.5 stars.

Some good work has already been done, including the installation of a new efficient gas hot water system. We continue to promote the centralised waste bin system that we implemented in 2014 to help improve recycling rates.

In 2015, the Angel Place Building Management Team engaged a consultant to undertake an IEQ (Indoor Environmental Quality) & Amenity assessment on the building. The study showed strong performance in this area, and if you are interested in hearing more about our study, please do not hesitate to contact the team.

AMP Capital is implementing a national program of waste audits in line with the best practice operational waste guidelines published by the Better Buildings Partnership. In collaboration with our supplier Foresight Environmental we are improving our monitoring and reporting processes and with your help we are seeking to minimise waste to landfill.

If you would like further information about how you can work with your colleagues to improve recycling and reduce waste, please refer to the best practice guidelines here.

The Cleaning Accountability Framework (CAF) is a world-first organisation whose mission is to improve labour practices in the cleaning industry. CAF works with cleaners, tenants, contractors, property owners, facility managers, and investors across the cleaning supply chain to identify and recognise best practice procurement, employment and compliance approaches that support decent work for cleaners and responsible business practices in the property services industry.

To be awarded CAF Building Certification, a building or precinct undergoes an independent assessment of the cleaning supply chain and cleaners’ working conditions against the CAF 3 Star Standard. Key assessment areas include labour rights, responsible contracting, safe working conditions, financial viability, worker engagement and issue identification and remediation.
